Are you aware that you have 16 weeks to complete a full assessment if you place a child temporarily
with a family member? Allocate your assessment to OFS and you are guaranteed to meet your time
OFS preliminary assessments ensure the exercise of balancing the pros and cons of each realistic
option. This means you are guaranteed solid evidence why an applicant is assessed as suitable or
ruled out as unsuitable.
OFS independent assessment examines a parent’s capacity to adequately meet the physiological
needs of their child or children and the likelihood of the parent sustaining such capacity short,
medium and long term.
Our Merton Compliant assessment will normally be undertaken by two experienced social workers.
It will include a face-to-face meeting with the young person; set out the general background of the
applicant, and adhere to standards of fairness.
Any young person placed has an automatic option to become a paid employee through the Life
Aftercare Programme. OFS offers young people aged 16 to 21 a home and support whilst they
acquire the skills they need to live independently in London.
OFS provides people who are available twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Call us now, and
we will be at the police station within 25 minutes or less, in London, and within an hour in Home
OFS is an Independent Social Care Agency run by highly qualified social workers
Who are OFS?
We are very experienced social workers with a good track record both in the public and private sectors. We have worked in various teams to senior management level within the local authorities across UK.
We believe commissioning frontline social services to a well-run private social care agency like OFS is the most efficient, cost effective and value for money approach to promoting good outcomes for children
We undertake a wide range of social care activities for and on behalf of Local Authorities, Families, Police, Solicitors and the Courts.
We have exceptional social workers who are available 24 hours to undertake welfare checks and safety visits for and on behalf of local authorities in emergency, nights, and weekends and at bank holidays.
We also have ABE trained social workers who have led complex child abuse investigations are able to offer similar services to the police, local authorities, private and voluntary agencies.
Our team of experienced social workers are prepared to undertake any comprehensive assessments of children and families in court proceedings. We are available to provide independent assessments to the Courts in contested hearings.
Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) Interviews
Our ABE trained Social workers are available to assist the police to undertake forensic (video recorded interviews) with vulnerable, intimidated and significant witnesses, as well as anyone tasked with preparing and supporting witnesses during the criminal justice process. that the police should always take the lead in the investigative interview”?

witnesses in accordance with the guidance set out in this document,
, there is no
reason why either should not lead the interview. The decision as to who leads the interview should
depend on who is able to establish the best rapport with the child. In circumstances where a social
worker leads the interview, the police should retain their responsibility for the criminal investigation by
ensuring that the interview is properly planned and that the police officer has an effective role in
monitoring the interview (see paragraphs 2.87 and 2.88).
Similarly, where a police officer leads the
interview, the local authority should retain their duty to make enquiries under Section 47 of the
Children Act 1989 by ensuring that the interview is properly planned and that the social worker has an
effective role in monitoring the interview.
